Starring Clive Owen and Julianne Moore, Alfonso Cuarón's excellent 2006 sci-fi is set in our now very near future of 2027.

In a dystopian world, British society is breaking down: mankind has become infertile, authoritarinaism is on the rise and despair fills the air. But when a young woman becomes pregnant with the first child in years, a jaded activist must transport her safely out of the country to a sanctuary at sea.

This event is part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science 2025 and was made possible thanks to funding from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), which is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
