Beginning as Irish literary legend Samuel Beckett (Byrne) wins the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1969, James Marsh’s biopic is a stylish portrait of the literary giant’s multi-faceted life.

Upon winning the prize, Beckett engages in a conversation with himself, returning to this through the film between vignettes of him as a younger man, exploring his guilt towards people in his life.

Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones, Queer as Folk) stars as James Joyce, an inspirational figure in Beckett’s story.
