Jamaican street vendor Marcia is caught between a local hoodlum and an older man with designs on her daughter. Disguising herself for a dance contest, Marcia pits her enemies against each other.


This screening of Don Letts and Rick Elgood's seminal film is presented in partnership with Dare to Diva, and will be introduced by Dr Denise Noble, Assistant Professor/Senior Lecturer in Sociology, Black Studies, Media & Cultural Studies.
