Based on the eponymous 2015 novel by Ottessa Moshfegh, Eileen translates on to the big screen as a dark and stylish noir thriller.

Thomasin Mackenzie (Jojo Rabbit, Last Night in Soho) stars as the titular character, a 24 year old prison worker, outcast by her peers and immersed in a life wrought with sordid misery.

The prison employs a new psychologist, Rebecca (Anne Hathaway), whose glamour and charisma entices Eileen, and the feeling is returned.

A twisted and depraved tale unfolds, directed by William Oldroyd (Lady Macbeth) who balances rich visuals  with strong central performances from his talented cast.
