Having lived in the shadow of her brother and fellow composer Felix Mendelssohn, Fanny’s own work remains largely unknown.
Felix, famous for his Wedding March, disapproved of her publishing her work under her own name and to this day only a handful of her 450 pieces are published or performed.
Fanny’s great great great granddaughter, BAFTA winner Sheila Hayman, directs this joyous and moving new documentary that celebrates her life and work.
