Presented by Footprints Film Festival, who will introduce the screening, Kurosawa’s masterpiece is best experienced on the big screen and arrives in a new 4K restoration from the British Film Institute.

Strongly influenced by the poetic westerns of John Ford, Kurosawa’s story of farmers recruiting a motley troupe of samurai to help them fend off bandits in turn had a huge impact on subsequent westerns and action films – from Hollywood remake The Magnificent Seven onwards.

Footprints Film Festival is an annual celebration of classic cinema curated by local young programmers.
