Makoto Shinkai’s (Your Name, Weathering With You) playful, modern take on Alice in Wonderland follows Suzume, a lonely, academic 17 year old who lives with her aunt following the untimely passing of her Mother.

When out walking, she meets a curious young man, Souta, who tells her he is looking for a door. Suzume happens upon one such door, and after opening it, unleashes cataclysmic forces that wreak havoc.

Her mission becomes to close the remaining doors, restoring harmony in the world.
