A fascinating cult-horror oddity in Mann’s filmography, The Keep feels like a mix of John Carpenter and Ken Russell with moody soundscapes provided by Tangerine Dream. When a unit of Nazi soldiers set up camp at an ancient stone fortress in the Carpathian Mountains, they unleash a malevolent supernatural force and begin to be picked off one by one. The incredible cast includes Scott Glenn, Jürgen Prochnow, Gabriel Byrne and Ian McKellen.
