The unbelievable story of one woman’s will and determination to uncover the resting place of Richard III, battling bureaucracy and taking on the country’s most revered historians to change Leicester’s history forever.
Philippa Langley (played by the spectacular Sally Hawkins), a writer and amateur historian, presided over the Scottish branch of the Richard III Society, visited Leicester to conduct research for a screenplay she was writing. Aware of many speculations and theories about the King’s lost remains, her investigation took her to a council car park in the city centre.
From here, after her instincts told her this was where he lay, her work began to uncover the ‘Lost King’. Written by the comic genius Steve Coogan (who also stars as Philippa’s husband), and Jeff Pope (Philomena), this heartwarming tale centres the significance of Leicester in British history amongst the quest of a woman following her instincts.
