"★★★★ – A visual dazzler that wears its fantasy elements lightly and with playful humour" – Financial Times

Dr Alithea Binnie is a content professor of narratology, keenly academic in her pursuit of stories and the story behind them. While attending a conference in Istanbul, she is drawn to a keepsake she finds in a bazaar, and upon taking it home finds it houses a Djinn who has been bottle-bound for millennia.

Among his relentless chatter are stories of great historical figures, and the promise to fulfil her heart’s desires in the form of three wishes. Alithea is sceptical, her sensibilities tell her this could all be a fantasy, and her deep knowledge of stories set alarm bells ringing when it comes to choosing a wish without careful consideration.

George Miller (Mad Max: Fury Road) is a master in the art of fairy tales on screen, though this may be his most direct offering yet, the mysticism and fantastical adaptation of AS Byatt’s 1994 short story promises dazzling visuals and passion running throughout.
