Phoenix Cinema is giving away tickets to a special charity screening of It’s a Wonderful Life on Friday 7th December at 7.30pm in return for donations to Leicester charity Action Homeless’ Winter Appeal.

Donations can be non-perishable food – such as pasta or tinned soups – or toiletries, and can be brought into Phoenix at any time, including on the night of the screening.

A shopping list of suggested donations is available at phoenix.org.uk/charityscreening

“This is the fifth year we’ve held a charity screening and every time we’ve been blown away by the generosity of local people,” said Phoenix cinema programme manager Jake Harvey.

James Riviere of Action Homeless commented, “Last year we received over £1,000 worth of donations from the Phoenix screening which made a huge difference to many individuals and families facing homelessness at Christmas.”

All donations will be packed up by Phoenix staff and handed to Action Homeless to be distributed to homeless and vulnerably-housed people around Leicester in time for Christmas.

Often cited as the best Christmas movie of all time, Frank Capra’s nostalgic 1946 ode to family, community and the power of redemption It’s a Wonderful Life is a strong contender for greatest movie ever made. Jimmy Stewart plays George Bailey, a frustrated businessman who, over the course of one night, discovers the true meaning of Christmas.
