Black History Month: Black Resistance & Power of the Supernatural
Screenings throughout October
Inspired by Ryan Coogler’s horror Sinners, for BHM 2025 we present an intoxicating, compelling series of Black films that focus on multi-faceted, powerful narratives of Black resistance: supernatural subjects of Black southern gothic, vampires, and Hoodoo/Conjurer root medicine.
These films acknowledge and highlight deep complex traumas. They also hold space for African/diaspora ancestors and their enduring spiritual cultural legacies: knowledge and folklore that were handed down, offering various forms of healing and justice.
